What to Expect

We take a team approach to rehabilitation. Depending on your circumstances and condition, your team may include:

  • Internists
  • Physiatrists
  • Nurses
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Physical Therapists
  • Psychologists
  • Recreational Therapists
  • Speech Therapists
  • Dietitians
  • Case Managers
  • Social Workers

This team helps set goals and encourages patients to work toward those goals in both individual and group therapy.

If you are in the Acute Rehabilitation or Brain Injury Unit, you can expect a minimum of three hours of therapy per day, five days per week. Therapy also takes place on weekends when necessary.

Patients in the Transitional Sub-Acute Unit receive therapy as needed, possibly two or three times a week.

Case managers meet with patients and families to discuss progress and assist with plans for discharge. Family members or caregivers may be asked to participate in therapy sessions, family education, home evaluations, or community re-entry activities.
