Our inpatient heart care units, N2 South and N2 West, encompass the entire second level of N-Building. Patients with heart problems such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, and heart attack may be admitted to one of these two patient care units. Open-heart surgery patients recover post-operatively on N2 South.
Patients on this floor stay in private or semi-private rooms with many amenities, including beautiful views of the Reading Museum. With all of our heart patients located in one central area, we are able to offer consistent care, since all members of the team in these units are “heart-focused.”
Our Heart Failure Unit, also located on N2, is designed to care for acute heart failure patients. Co-directed by cardiology and hospitalists, this unit offers the latest methods and therapies for treating heart failure. Nutritionists, physical and occupational therapists, and care managers are available for consultation.
Nursing staff members continually work to meet the needs of each patient. Our compassionate cardiac nurses are enthusiastic, motivational teachers who assist patients and their families with appropriate self-directed care. They receive ongoing advanced training and undergo regular competency assessments to keep their skills current.
