Many heart patients are admitted through the Emergency Department, located two floors below Miller Regional Heart Care Center in N-Building. We work closely with Emergency Department physicians and staff to expedite care for these patients, reducing the amount of time they spend in the emergency room, when every second counts.
For heart attack patients, the process begins even before they arrive, when medical information is transmitted from the ambulance to the Hospital. This streamlined process allows patients to be transferred almost immediately to our Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. For more details, see Chest Pain.
