Institutional Review Board

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is a committee that reviews and approves all of the research that takes place at Reading Hospital. The IRB focuses on protecting patients by reviewing all clinical trials to ensure that the risks to the participants do not outweigh the benefits of the research. Federal Regulations, State Law and Hospital Policy guide the decisions of the IRB.

The IRB is made up of 16 members of varying backgrounds including representatives from the medical staff, chaplaincy services, nursing, pharmacy, administration, and the community. The IRB meets monthly to review new research proposals and conduct continuing review of ongoing studies.
