Library Services at Reading Health System

Reading Health System Library Services Department provides information resources and services to medical staff, residents, employees, and students of Reading Health System. The library is open by appointment to all community members.

Resources

Clinical staff members have access to a robust collection of online databases, eJournals, eBooks and point of care resources, including UpToDate, Ovid, EBSCOhost, Nursing Reference Center, Natural Standard, Visual Dx and The Joanna Briggs Institute.

The library also maintains a print collection for healthcare professionals featuring books on medicine, nursing, allied health and healthcare management. The library also subscribes to medical and nursing journals in print format.

Library users have access to 14 desktop computers as well as wireless Internet access

We invite patients, patient visitors, and members of the community to use our consumer health collection, located in the medical library on Reading Hospital's E-Ground. In addition, members of the public have access to the Elaine G. Dunitz Library, located in the waiting area of the McGlinn Family Regional Cancer Center. This special collection of books offers inspiration, support, and education for people living with a chronic or life-threatening illness and for their caregivers.

Services

The professional and para-professional library staff can provide research and information literacy services including literature reviews, research instruction, document retrieval, and interlibrary loan services.

School of Health Sciences

The library offers 24-hour access to students as well as remote access to online library resources. Cumulated Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature and many other EBSCO databases are available, along with Nursing Reference Center and Ovid Nursing. There is a photocopier/printer, color printer and scanner available for student use. Students receive an orientation to library resources and services during their first semester. Two professional librarians and one library assistant are available to assist all students with their research needs during staffed hours.
