Deep Vein Thrombosis
This study, dubbed ATTRACT (Acute Venous Thrombosis: Thrombus Removal with Adjunctive Catheter-Directed Thrombolysis), is being sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. The purpose of the study is to find out if removing a blood clot in the leg using the PCDT procedure prevents the post-thrombotic syndrome in patients with symptomatic deep vein thrombosis (DVT) as compared with standard DVT therapy alone and also improves quality of life.
The estimated study enrollment is 692 patients from approximately 30-60 sites in the United States. The Reading Hospital is currently enrolling patients in the ATTRACT study, which is expected to remain open until March 2013.
