Pediatrics Clerkship - Preceptor: Karen Wang, MD, FAAP
The student will develop history taking and physical examination skills in the care of the pediatric patient. The student will get extensive hands-on experience with inpatient pediatrics, including newborn nursery and outpatient office pediatrics. Opportunities exist to spend time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Pediatrics area of the Emergency Department, and with pediatric subspecialists. Community experiences including opportunities to visit various community agencies are incorporated into the curriculum. Students work closely with family practice residents and attending pediatricians in our group. There is no overnight call on this rotation, but there may be evenings in the ED.

Special areas of interest of the individual student may be able to be explored at the discretion of the clerkship director.
