Traditional Rotating Internship
The Reading Hospital and Medical Center is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association and is a member of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine's OPTI. The internship offers a great deal of flexibility and the core competencies will be developed with future training needs in mind. The Osteopathic Internship is readily incorporated into the Family Medicine or Transitional Year programs at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
Osteopathic Interns maintain and advance their OMM skills through regular didactics provided on site, as well as hands-on experience under the direction of Dr. Mary Brigandi.
Internal Medicine Osteopathic Residency
The Reading Hospital and Medical Center Department of Medicine is one of the few medical training programs that is dually approved by both AOA and ACGME. Our Osteopathic residents have the opportunity to obtain AOA Board Certification or to be dually certified through the AOA and the ABIM. The Internal Medicine Osteopathic Residency is fully integrated with the ACGME-approved allopathic internal medicine training program. The program offers flexibility to prepare the individual for a variety of career opportunities in general and sub-specialty internal medicine. Outstanding on-site osteopathic philosophy and osteopathic manual manipulation under the direction of Dr. Mary Brigandi supplement the competency training in patient care, medical knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, practice-based learning, and systems-based practice.
