Karpovich Appointed Director of Risk Management

Karen Karpovich has been named the Director of Risk Management for The Reading Hospital and Medical Center. In this position, she is responsible for effectively managing a systematic, proactive, and comprehensive Risk Management program for the Hospital and its associated entities, including but not limited to: loss prevention; risk identification, analysis and follow-up; and management of general and health care professional liability claims.

Karpovich has been with the Hospital since 1992, initially serving as a General Medical Technologist. She moved on to become a Senior Medical Technologist and the Laboratory Point of Care Coordinator. Later she became the Laboratory Client Services Supervisor, Quality Management Coordinator, and Safety & Chemical Hygiene Officer. During her most recent position as Regulatory Coordinator, Karpovich was responsible for oversight of the Hospital’s accreditation/licensure activities.

Karpovich earned her bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Kutztown University, Kutztown, Pa., and completed a Medical Technologist Clinical Internship to earn a certificate from Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, Pa. She is registered as a Medical Technologist and Blood Bank Technologist Categorical by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
