Desha Dickson has been named the Director of Volunteer Services at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
In this position, Dickson will direct and coordinate Volunteer Services for The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, as well as serve as the liaison to The Friends of The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, its standing committees, and fundraising projects including the overall direction and operation of its three gift shops.
Dickson had served as the Vice President of Community Impact at the United Way of Greater High Point in High Point, N.C., since 2006. She has also been an Online Instructor for the University of Phoenix since 2009, teaching courses in “Financial Management for Human Service Managers” and “Skills for Learning in an Information Age.”
From 2005 to 2006, Dickson was the Program Coordinator for the Chester County Department of Community Development. Prior to that, she worked for the Montgomery County Community Action Development Commission, first as a Community Services Case Manager from 2001-2003, and then as Director of Community Services from 2003-2004.
Dickson earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, and her master’s degree in nonprofit management from Eastern University in St. David’s, Pa.
