Runners can register in person right up to the 9 a.m., Sunday, October 9, start time for The Reading Hospital Road Run 10k and 5k, and 1 mile fun run/walk events.

Local author Janet Oberholtzer will run the 10k and before and after the event will sign copies of her book "Because I Can."

"Because I Can" chronicles Oberholtzer's life after an accident left her with a shattered pelvis and severe leg injuries - she struggled not only to survive her physical injuries, but also had to learn how to live with her new normal

Registration events at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center Seventh Avenue Parking Garage will be held on Saturday, October 8, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and on Sunday from 7 a.m. until race time.

The $30 registration fee includes a high-tech T-shirt and live entertainment by Hat Trixx. All proceeds benefit projects of The Friends of The Reading Hospital, including HeartSAFE Berks County

Runners will cover a course through Wyomissing Borough Park Systems and The Highlands at Wyomissing. The race features instant result timing using the Chronotrack Computer D-tag System.

There will be cash awards for the top three male and female finishers in both the 10k and 5k events.

The Reading Hospital Road Run events will be held rain or shine.
