Birch Chosen as Vice President of Operations of The Reading Hospital Medical Group

William H. Birch has been appointed the Vice President of Operations of The Reading Hospital Medical Group.

Birch will provide leadership, direction, and support on all operational issues for The Reading Hospital Medical Group. He will establish goals, long term objectives, and strategies for quality improvement, workflow efficiencies, staff education, patient satisfaction, and patient safety initiatives.

Birch last served for two years as the Chief Operating Officer of Meridian Medical Associates in Joliet, Ill. where he developed strategic objectives and tactics for: quality and patient safety; patient, employee, and physician satisfaction; marketing; finance; and growth, which provided direction for the management team. From 1986-2008, he worked at the Advocate Dreyer Medical Clinic in Aurora, Ill., where he was: Assistant Director of Nursing, 1986-1987; Director of Nursing, 1987-1996; Vice President of Operations/Chief Nurse Executive from 1996-2008; and Interim President from June to November 2007.

Birch holds a bachelors degree in biochemistry from Illinois Benedictine College in Lisle, Ill.; a teaching and research fellowship in biochemistry from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Fla.; a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fla.; and a master’s degree in business administration, specializing in healthcare administration, from Benedictine University, Lisle, Ill.
