Sorrentino Named Neonatology Section Chief

David Sorrentino, MD, of Monroe, NJ, has been named Chief of the Section of Neonatology at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.  In this position, Dr. Sorrentino will provide administrative and clinical leadership for the Hospital’s 22-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Dr. Sorrentino is supported by four fellowship-trained neonatologists in a unit which treats more than 350 babies each year.

A graduate of the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Dr. Sorrentino is board-certified and fellowship-trained in neonatal-perinatal medicine and pediatrics.  He completed his residency at New York University Medical Center.  His undergraduate degree in biology was awarded by Rider University, Lawrenceville, NJ.

In 2009, Dr. Sorrentino was listed in Philadelphia Magazine as a Top 64 Rising Star in Philadelphia Medicine.

Dr. Sorrentino joined the Hospital’s Medical Staff in 2009 as part of the Hospital’s newly established relationship with St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, which is an award-winning pediatric hospital in Philadelphia that provides high-level tertiary and specialty care to children from around the world.  As a result of this partnership, a broad array of advanced pediatric and emergency care is now available to Berks County families.
