The Reading Hospital and Medical Center now offers continuous Epilepsy Monitoring as part of its ongoing expansion of clinical services. Under the medical leadership of Sowmya Lakshminarayanan, MD, Chief, Section of Neurology, this new service utilizes audio and video technology to assist physicians in the evaluation and treatment of seizure disorders.
In addition to assessing seizure disorders, the Hospital's monitoring capabilities are also very helpful in evaluating symptoms of unknown cause such as confusion, fainting, sudden behavioral outbursts, vertigo, memory difficulties, and more. Dr. Lakshminarayanan points out that seizures can manifest in many different ways.
To learn more about seizure disorders, join Dr. Lakshminarayanan at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, in The Hospital’s Conference Center where she will present “Seizures in Older Americans – Why Aging Makes Us More Susceptible to Abnormal Electrical Discharges in the Brain and What Treatment Options Are Available."
