Kellom Named Administrative Director of Laboratory Services

Ellen Kellom, MS, MT(ASCP)SBB, Oxford, is the new Administrative Director of Laboratory Services at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

In this position, Kellom is responsible, along with the William Natale, MD, the Chair of the Department of Pathology, for the planning, organization and direction of the operations of the laboratory through appropriate utilization of resources and delegation of responsibilities. She will plan the course of the department to meet capital, personnel and expense budgets while insuring continuous quality of services provided, and maintain active working relationships with other Hospital departments, committees and administrators. Kellom also ensures laboratory compliance with the Hospital's mission and policies as well as Federal, State, and CLIA '88 regulations.

Kellom most recently served as Vice President of Technical Services at the Blood Bank of Delmarva, where she provided executive oversight of Donor Services and Laboratory Operations. From 2003-2009, she was first the Transfusion Services Supervisor, then the Director of Laboratory Services, for the Cancer Treatment Centers of America. And from 2000-2003, Kellom was a Laboratory Supervisor for ACL Laboratories in Wisconsin

Kellom, earned her associate’s degree in medical laboratory technology and her bachelor’s degree in applied biology from Ferris State University Big Rapids, Mich. She earned her master’s degree in transfusion medicine from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis.
