Matthews to Lead The Reading Hospital; Sucher and Jones also Named Senior Officers

The Reading Hospital's Board of Directors announced Thursday, November 17, that it has engaged Clint Matthews, Therese Sucher, and Richard W. Jones as the Hospital's Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Financial Officer, respectively, effective January 1, 2012. All three will relocate to Berks County and cease their employment with FTI Consultants, Brentwood, Tenn., through which they have served the Hospital in the same roles since June 2010.

"Clint, Therese, and Rick as a team bring a century of experience in professional healthcare administration and a commitment to the nation's best practices to our Hospital," commented C. Thomas Work, Chairman of the Hospital's Board of Directors.

"During the last 17 months, they have led highly successful efforts to institutionalize high quality care, implement leadership training and accountability, introduce a system of uniform electronic health records throughout the organization, encourage clinical integration, and catalyze a state-of-the-art surgical facility on the main campus that will greatly increase surgical capability and lure talented surgical graduates to Reading," Work added.

A Texas native, Clint Matthews received an undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of Texas and a master's degree in health care administration from Texas Woman's University. He has occupied executive roles with Tenet Healthcare's Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Florida, Lourdes Hospital in Kentucky, Princeton Health System in West Virginia, Ornda Healthcorp South Park Hospital in Texas, Amarillo Hospital District Northwest Healthcare System in Texas, HCA Doctors Hospital in Arkansas, and Hospital Affiliates International, Inc., facilities in Texas and California. He has been employed by FTI Consultants in its healthcare practice since 2004.

Also a nurse by training, Therese Sucher graduated from Ursuline College of Cleveland and received a master's degree in organizational development from Case Western Reserve University. She began her career as Clinical Director of Nursing at Fairview General Hospital in Ohio, and later served as a consultant in the healthcare business practice of Arthur Andersen, LLC, and as Vice President of Operations at Kaiser Permanente in Cleveland.

Richard W. Jones received his undergraduate degree and an MBA from the University of Miami and is a certified public accountant. He has served as chief financial officer, or in comparable roles, at Boca Raton Community Hospital in Florida, Brooklyn Queens Healthcare of New York, Methodist Hospitals in Indiana, Roseland Community Hospital in Chicago, Tenet's USC University Hospital in Los Angeles, Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Catholic Healthcare West's San Gabriel Valley Medical Center in California, Tulane University Hospital in Louisiana, University Hospital of Arkansas, and Geisinger System Services in Danville. He began his career as a financial counselor at Baptist Hospital of Miami and as a staff accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co.
