Lyons Appointed Director of Public Relations at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center

Joseph Lyons, Quakertown, is the new Director of Public Relations at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

In this position, Lyons supports the Hospital Mission and Strategic Plan by managing the public and TRHMC family communications and goodwill-building initiatives planned and executed by the Public Relations Department. He serves as liaison to all local, regional, and national media outlets, and is responsible for assuring that Hospital communications, including intranet, portals, and newsletters support strategic and operational initiatives.

Lyons has worked in public and media relations for more than 15 years, most recently serving as the Executive Director of Communications at the Pennsylvania Virtual Charter School for five years. He also has nearly a decade of experience in journalism, working as a reporter and editor for the Pocono Record in Stroudsburg, the Tri-State Gazette in Port Jervis, N.Y., and the Express-Times in Easton.

Lyons earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
