Baxter to Lead State Organization for Family Physicians

D. Michael Baxter, MD, Chairman of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, has been installed as President of the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians.   Baxter was installed on June 4.

As President, Dr. Baxter will provide clinical and leadership expertise to more than 4,800 physicians, residents, and medical students in the Commonwealth.

A 19-year member of the Hospital’s Medical Staff, Dr. Baxter is also Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program at the Hospital.

Dr. Baxter earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine and completed his residency training at St. Margaret Memorial Hospital, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  Board certified in Family Medicine and Geriatric Medicine, Dr. Baxter also completed Fellowship training in Faculty Development at Temple University School of Medicine.

Baxter served as President of the Berks County Medical Society from 2009-2010.
