Featured Volunteer Position:

Ambassador - Help Your Health and Help Others

Reading Hospital

Do you want to do good and get your steps in? Being an Ambassador will do both. Reading Hospital is large and often confusing. Ambassadors guide patients, family, friends and other visitors throughout the complex. You will be scheduled in one of the four lobbies and work in conjunction with our Guest Service Attendants to help ease the minds of those coming to visit loved ones, having tests or appointments or finding their way to get a cup of coffee. One of our current volunteers will mentor you until you are ready to go solo. Please apply today.

Tower Gift Shop

Join our happy and helpful team! Visitors, patients and staff come to the Tower Gift Shop for that special gift for a new baby, a patient or a little break during the day. We are looking for kind and dependable volunteers for Friday afternoons.

Child Development Center*

Reading Hospital

If you enjoy working with children, this may be the volunteer opportunity for you. We have volunteer opportunities in the morning.

Duties: Assists classroom teachers. This involves reading to children, playing with small groups in classrooms and playground, and running errands throughout the Child Development Center. Please note: This position is very physically active. Volunteers must be high energy and able to work independently. *This position requires additional criminal clearances.

Compassionate Care Giver

Reading Hospital / Reading Health Rehabilitation Hospital

These volunteers have a heart for being a kind presence and offer companionship to patients.

Duties: Read, play games, and/or listen to patients, capture patient stories via the Story Catcher program for staff, bring patients small comforts such as a prayer shawl, an extra blanket, neck pillow, or Compassionate Care Heart when needed.

Helping Hands

Reading Hospital

Many people have a heart to give and love to be active. Being a helping hands volunteer keeps you on the move running errands, delivering supplies, organizing closets and helping staff with more physical activities.
Office Support

Clerical volunteers are needed in many areas of the Reading Health System. If you love to file, answer phones, do light clerical tasks, we have a place for you.

Paws for Wellness*

Reading Hospital / Reading Health Rehabilitation Hospital

Pets can bring a type of joy that is unparalleled. If you have a certified therapy animal and would like to bring that joy to our patients and staff please consider this volunteer position.

Duties: Provides patients and staff with pet therapy under the supervision of the Director of the PAWS for Wellness program.*Pets must be certified therapy animals. This position requires addtional criminal clearances.

Reach Out and Read*

Reading Hospital

If you love reading and would like to pass that love on to some of our youngest patients, please apply for this position.

Duties: Reads to children in the waiting room, restocks free book cart, models reading for parents and other care givers. Books will be provided.
