Program Director's Message

Welcome to the website of The Reading Hospital and Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Training Program! As you review the material on this site, I hope that it will become apparent to you that our entire focus is on you, the learner. We exist to help you become the doctor and person you have always envisioned yourself becoming. As a large independent academic medical center affiliated with Jefferson Medical College, we are uniquely positioned to provide you with excellent clinical experiences from our primary care and referral bases while operating in the setting of a strong culture of academics, quality improvement, and patient safety.

Utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach and advanced medical informatics, you will find that everything in this program, from our conferences and rotations, through our simulation lab experiences and focus on clinical research, is designed to train you to be a practitioner able to meet the current and future challenges of medical practice.

As a resident in our program, you will focus not just on the outstanding clinical experiences, but also on developing your skills as a mindful practitioner. You will be trained to reflect upon what you have seen and done and apply those lessons to your own practice and that of a healthcare system. Our faculty mentor you every step of the way and the smaller size of the program allows for the personal attention you deserve.
