Why should I call 911?
Every minute counts when someone is having a heart attack. Though you
might think driving yourself to the Emergency Department is faster,
don't! Calling 911 reduces total treatment times by as much as 15
minutes! Less time = more heart muscle saved!
Every minute counts, and calling 911 starts treatment faster.
911 dispatchers are trained to locate you quickly and send
advanced medical help right away.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) can diagnose a heart attack by
using an electrocardiogram (EKG) and begin early treatment.
EMS will radio ahead to the Emergency Department. This enables
the staff and cardiac care team to be ready, even before you
85% of heart damage occurs within the first two hours of your first sign
of a heart attack!
Don't delay! Call 911 right away!
