Every Minute Counts!

Every Minute Counts

Why should I call 911?

Every minute counts when someone is having a heart attack. Though you might think driving yourself to the Emergency Department is faster, don't! Calling 911 reduces total treatment times by as much as 15 minutes!  Less time = more heart muscle saved!

Every minute counts, and calling 911 starts treatment faster.

  • 911 dispatchers are trained to locate you quickly and send advanced medical help right away.
  • Emergency Medical Services (EMS) can diagnose a heart attack by using an electrocardiogram (EKG) and begin early treatment.
  • EMS will radio ahead to the Emergency Department. This enables the staff and cardiac care team to be ready, even before you arrive.

85% of heart damage occurs within the first two hours of your first sign of a heart attack!

Don't delay! Call 911 right away!
