At The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, we are dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of seizures and epilepsy. Our Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) features private rooms equipped with state-of-the art digital equipment and techniques and multidisciplinary specialists to evaluate patients with seizure disorders. Our video EEG monitoring system simultaneously records a patient’s behavior via camera and the brain’s electrical activity.
The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit is directed by Sowmya Lakshminarayanan, MD, Chief, Neurology. Dr. Lak is dual fellowship-trained in Neurophysiology with emphasis on epilepsy and Sleep Medicine. She is highly devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of individuals faced with epilepsy and sleep disorders, in addition to treating other neurological conditions.
