A training ground for Paramedic students, the Paramedic
Suite features a series of labs dedicated to the
disciplines of emergency medicine – Airway, ACLS,
Pediatrics, and Trauma. In these staging spaces students
rescue mannequin patients, load them onto a gurney, and
move them into a full-size ambulance bay. Outfitted with
multiple cameras, the ambulance bay records first aid in
real time and can stream the video to the other
classroom allowing faculty and students to see and give
immediate feedback on the procedures in the simulator.

The Computer Lab features 50 computers running a variety
of software, ranging from standard software for email,
internet access, and word processing, to
program-specific software.
The computer room is accessible during open school hours with a Hospital identification card and is supported by two full-time technology coordinators. In addition, we provide a wireless network which allows students to use their personal laptop computers from anywhere within the building.

The student lounge features comfortable seating, student
mailboxes, and a TV area. The snack bar area offers
microwave ovens, refrigerators, and vending machines.
Two private study rooms are available for students to
use for quiet work and study.

Our two radiology laboratories are set up to simulate
typical radiographic rooms in a hospital setting. The
suite combines the advantages of life-like positioning
phantoms and live imaging equipment, which allow
students to hone their imaging skills while using
technology similar to that found in the hospital
setting. This suite and the technology in it are
specifically designed to not only closely approximate a
live radiographic setting but also to promote the
teamwork necessary to function well in a live radiology
setting.

This room seats 125 students and will accommodate our
upper level day nursing class. Each seat in this room is
equipped with electric outlets to permit students to
take notes using a laptop computer. Both the Auditorium
and the Tiered Classroom feature an electronic Audience
Response System. This system allows an instructor of a
large class to ask a question and "poll the audience”.
Students answer questions via a remote control; an
immediate tally of the student’s answers is recorded and
can be shown on the screen as a graph. This helps the
instructor know if the students are understanding the
content, and can also be used for attendance and
quizzes.

The Charles Sullivan Auditorium has been named in honor
of Mr. Charles Sullivan, who recently retired as the
President and Chief Executive Officer of the Reading
Hospital and Medical Center. The Auditorium seats 300
and is equipped with state-of-the-art electronic video
and audio equipment, which allows for videoconferencing
and distance learning. Each classroom in the building is
equipped with computers, projectors, DVD players, and
connections for a portable document camera.

The Nursing Program Alumni Office is open during
scheduled times and offers nursing students an
opportunity to discuss programs and services available
through the office. The nursing program is the largest
and oldest of the five programs in the School of Health
Sciences. Established in 1889, the Nursing Program has a
long history of serving the community. The Nursing
Program Alumni Association meets monthly to provide
educational programs for its members. The alumni have
collected many historic nursing uniforms and artifacts
from the program’s 118-year history.

The Welcome Desk is a great starting point for visitors.
Our receptionist provides visitors with general
information, determines their needs, directs them
appropriately, and supports essential office functions
of the School.

Located just off the main entrance of the building, the
School Services Suite provides a single location where
students, faculty, and guests may seek assistance with
admissions, financial aid, registration and transcript
requests, billing and payment, student health, peer
tutoring, counseling, Alvernia University advising, and
student life.

The Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Seminar room
provides an instructional home for the Clinical Pastoral
Education Program. Enrollment in a CPE seminar group is
limited to four to six students. The room is well-suited
to the case discussion format used in the program.
