“Making an immediate difference in a patient’s life is rewarding. That’s why I enjoy my career as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room at The Reading Hospital. I work with a team of experts, making decisions and delivering accurate assessments that have an immediate effect on patients. The work can be stressful. But when a family member thanks you, you know it’s worth it.”

“Taking care of people is in my blood. And working in Spruce Pavilion gives me the opportunity to do just that. Caring for psychiatric, geriatric, and drug- and alcohol-addicted patients–many who have emotional problems–offers a variety of challenges. But most nurses thrive on challenge. And interacting with family members to find ways to best care for a loved one can be so rewarding. The way I see it, nursing has been so good to me as a profession, the least I can do is give something back.”

“I’m helping to improve the care of trauma patients.”

“When lives are on the line, seconds count. Nowhere is that more apparent than at The Reading Hospital Trauma Center where timeliness and quality of care are critical. That’s why I’m proud to be a Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator. Working with nurses, EMS personnel, social workers, and case managers, I help to assure that the most seriously ill and injured receive critical healthcare services that meet the nation’s highest standards.”

Oncology Certified Nurse

“I always knew I wanted to be a nurse. So after working as an EMT, I attended nursing school, and spent the past eight years at The Reading Hospital. Today, I’m an oncology certified nurse. Along with a staff of compassionate professionals, I care for patients in our Regional Cancer Center. Our staff is very supportive of one another, and our patients appreciate the care they receive. Helping to make such a positive difference in someone’s life is the best feeling in the world!”
“I treat every child as my own.”

“I love children. I have kids of my own. And I believe it’s our responsibility to give every one of them the best chance we can for a healthy and active life. That’s why I’ve been working in the Pediatrics Unit at The Reading Hospital for the past seven years. Here, I not only care for sick children, but also work closely with patient’s families as part of the caring process. It’s rewarding to see the kids get well and go home, knowing we played a part in helping families through a medical crisis."
