Our
inpatient heart care units, N2 South and N2 West, encompass the entire
second level of N-Building. Patients with various heart problems such as
coronary artery disease, heart failure, and heart attack may be admitted
to one of the two patient care units.
Our open heart surgery patients recover post-operatively on N2 South. Patients on this floor stay in private or semi-private rooms with many amenities, including beautiful views of the Reading Museum, all to make their stay as pleasant as possible. With all of our heart patients located in one central area, we are able to offer increased consistency of care, since all members of the team in these units are “heart-focused.”
Also
located on N2, our Heart Failure Unit is designed to care for acute
heart failure patients. Co-directed by cardiology and hospitalists, this
unit offers the latest methods and therapies for treating the
ever-growing problem of heart failure through written materials,
teaching, and instructional videos. Nutritionists, Physical and
Occupational Therapists, and Care Managers provide patients and their
families with consultation services, and focus on improving quality of
life.
Nursing staff on our heart care team receive advanced training and thorough orientation to hospital facilities. Our compassionate, highly-competent nurses continually explore the needs of each patient. Our nurses are enthusiastic, motivational teachers who join the patient and family with the therapy team for appropriate self-directed care. Cardiac nurses maintain their skills through ongoing training and regular competency assessments.
