Prevention

At The Reading Hospital Regional Heart Center, we see the effects of heart disease on a daily basis. We know that heart disease can be treated more effictively if it is detected early, and are taking the lead in heart care by focusing on prevention. But, since half of the risk factors that lead to heart disease — such things as smoking, being overweight, and eating a poor diet — are under your control, the decision to improve your heart health begins with you.

On a regular basis, the Regional Heart Center offers and participates in public screenings for all major heart disease risk factors including high blood pressure, high body fat, and elevated cholesterol. In addition to these screenings, we strongly recommend regular check-ups by a qualified physician. Our cardiology staff includes experts in the field of preventive cardiology, and our heart team members share their expertise by providing free heart-related lectures to the community.

Our primary goal is to keep patients out of the hospital and lead productive lives by teaching them to recognize their symptoms, use their medication to its best effect, and make healthy lifestyle choices.
