Ethics and Compliance

Your role is to always do the right thing in every situation, and to speak up if you know of or suspect any unethical behavior. Our role is to listen and to act to correct the situations you bring to light.

Reading Health System is committed to providing quality healthcare to our patients and appropriate support to their loved ones, and we also recognize our responsibility to conduct all of our business in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines. The system has created a dedicated Compliance Office to ensure these standards are met. The goal of the Office is to optimize ethical and compliant behavior through an effective Compliance Program.

Reporting Ethics and Compliance Violations

In keeping with our Standards of Conduct, Reading Health System has established a hotline for reporting suspected fraud and/or violations of laws, regulations, or policies. The Hotline provides the means of anonymously reporting, online or by telephone, concerns that are then forwarded to the appropriate authority within the  system for investigation and resolution. Reports can be made in English or in Spanish.

The Hotline is staffed by trained professionals who work for an outside independent organization called Global Compliance. All reporting is anonymous, unless the reporter chooses to self-identify. Navex/Global Compliance forwards all reports to the appropriate personnel for review and investigation. The person making the report can inquire as to the status of his/her report using a personal identification number (PIN) that is assigned to that specific report.

To report unethical behavior or violations of laws, regulations, or policies:

Call (toll-free) 1-855-261-6653, or log onto  https://readinghealth.alertline.com

  • Appropriate individuals within the system receive your report; the report will be reviewed and a determination will be made if an investigation is necessary.

  • If deemed no investigation is necessary, the report will be noted and closed.

  • If an investigation is deemed appropriate, this will begin within three business days of the review of the report. Typically, an investigation should be concluded within 30 days of review.

  • As the reporter, you will receive a PIN which can be used to monitor the status of the report anonymously.
