Respiratory Gating in Radiation Treatments, Christopher Zatwarnicki

Tumors in the lungs and abdomen can be especially challenging to treat with radiation because they move as a patient breathes. But with respiratory gating, the radiation beam can be turned off and on as the patient breathes, resulting in more accurate treatment, minimal side effects, and fewer sessions. Radiation Physicist Christopher Zatwarnicki explains.
