Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Rotation
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation - Preceptor: Paul Brockman, MD
Pre-requisites: A minimum of 6 months of third-year clinical rotations AND a minimum of 8 weeks of general internal medicine experience
During this 2 or 4 week experience, the student will be exposed to a broad range of physiatry, including acute care, post-acute care, and ambulatory settings. Problems encountered include stroke and brain injury, neuromuscular disorders, and a range of orthopedic conditions. The student will gain an appreciation for the multidisciplinary approach to meeting the complex needs of rehabilitation patients.
A car is required for this elective, as the student will be required to travel between the Hospital main campus and The Reading Rehabilitation Hospital. Any student spending time at the Rehabilitation Hospital must have received the Pneumovax vaccine or have signed a declination form.
