About Reading Health System

tower

A comprehensive continuum of care and services.

We built Reading Hospital and its iconic clock tower to stand as a symbol of our commitment to providing unparalleled healthcare services to the people of this community.

While our tower represents all that we’ve been, our new name, Reading Health System, is truly a better reflection of the organization we are today. It is an organization that has grown tremendously in range of services, advanced treatments, as well as physical locations. The system today consists of four major gateways — Reading Hospital, Reading Health Rehabilitation Hospital, Reading Health Physician Partners, and Reading Health Medical Services.

Combined, our 7,300 team members and 1,000 physicians and providers across 63 locations are committed to fulfilling our promise to advance the health and wellness of the communities we serve. Our integrated system of care, from prevention and education to the latest clinical services, forms the foundation of advancing health and transforming lives at Reading Health System.

Reading Hospital

A pillar of the community, a beacon of advancement.

Touting 145 years of service, Reading Hospital is so much more than a hospital. Comprised of a 22-building complex located on 36 suburban acres in West Reading, our flagship facility continues to expand in order to provide the most comprehensive care to the people of this community.

Licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health for 735 acute care beds, Reading Hospital is home to many of our finest specialty care centers, including the McGlinn Family Regional Cancer Center, Miller Regional Heart Center, as well as our Emergency Department and Level II Trauma Center. This campus also includes Beginnings Maternity Center, which contains the region’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). With so many of our core offerings so close in proximity, it is most likely the place you or someone you know has received care.

We are always working to maintain our quality of care. Our full accreditation by The Joint Commission, the Society of Chest Pain Centers, the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Society (UHMS), the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), and he American Association of Blood Banks reflects our dedication to the health and wellness of our community.

Reading Hospital works tirelessly to maintain our clinical excellence and lower-than-average patient costs. Our yearly discharges reach 30,000, and provide nearly 19,000 surgical procedures annually.

With so much history and advancement at one location, it’s no wonder this facility is consistently talked about as a regional healthcare leader.
